County and Town Continue to Move on Bruce Terrace Flood Project

All components have completed design phase with bidding process to follow for Mineola project.

Despite having earlier , the is for their portion of the flood mitigation project on Bruce Terrace according to Mineola village officials.

Speaking at a meeting of the on June 6 at the , superintendent of public works Tom Rini reported that all components of the project had completed their design phases and that he would be meeting with the county shortly to discuss the interconnection into the recharge basin for the “Sheridan Bypass,” otherwise known as the .

Rini said that he had also seen the designs for the Town of North Hempstead’s recharge basin on the village’s land.

“Obviously we do have some paperwork to deal with that, to have that property with the town” he said, “but they’re also moving along with that, the county’s moving along on their interceptor pipe. I believe the design is done now, now it’s the coordination and to see how many utilities have to be offset in order to accommodate that pipe.”

He met with village engineers during the week of June 11 to set up a meeting with the county and about getting the project out to the bidding process as soon as possible.
