Mineola Village Board Notebook: April 13

Other news from the April 13 village board meeting.

The Mineola  held a meeting on Wednesday, April 13. Here are some of the things you may have missed.

Village Code Book

  • Due to the company who maintained and printed the village codebook closing its doors, the board approved a new vendor.
  • According to Village Clerk Joe Scalero the project will completely redesign and reproduce the village code book into a new numbering system and will include online access.
  • The first phase would begin this summer, with a first draft being produced around August.
  • The change order is in the form of a final payment of $2,600.
  • The new book would also include laws and regulations passed during the last several years, about 2007 forward.
  • “I think its only prudent going forward that we’re going to have a complete book hat it be completely up to date and not missing the last two years,” Scalero said.

2011 Road Improvement Project

  • According to Superintendent of Public Works Tom Rini, the 2011 road improvement project will concentrate in the area of the village south of Jericho Turnpike between Horton Highway and Herricks Road.

Scheduled Hearing

  • A hearing on a development incentive in the business district was postponed at the applicant’s request.
  • According to village attorney John Spellman, the applicant had withdrawn their application.

Certiorari Settlements

  • The board approved certiorari refund installment payments for the following in the amounts specified:
    • Richlee Court Apartments, First Avenue, $56,667
    • County Seat Condominium, 205 Mineola Boulevard, $47,500.
  • said that since the village had funds leftover from the current fiscal year, the payments made at this time would reduce payments in future years.
