The Mineola Village Board of Trustees held a meeting on Wednesday, May 8. Here are some of the things you may have missed.

Mineola Junior Fire Department Honored

  • Mineola Fire Department Chief Jeffrey Clark reported that Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray recognized the members of the junior fire department for bringing toys this past Christmas to families on the south shore who were impacted by Hurricane Sandy by bestowing medals of honor.
Mineola Fire Department April Report
  • The Mineola Fire Department responded to 31 calls in the month of April, including 15 false alarms, three mutual aid calls, two elevator rescues, two vehicle accidents, two brush/rubbish fires and three downed power lines.
  • There were a total of four fires including one cooking fire, one storefront sign, one light fixture on the exterior of a house due to a bird’s nest and a ceiling fan.
Budget Transfer
  • The board approved a request from the Mineola Fire Department for budget transfers in the amount of $1,267.43 from the following lines:
  • $1,267.43 from repairs - autos & trucks
  • $1,267.43 to badges and plaques.
Use Request
  • Girl Scout Troop 1154 was granted use of the community center general purpose room on Thursday, June 6 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for its year-end celebration.
The next meeting of the Mineola Village Board will be on Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the village hall.
