The Mineola  held a meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Here are some of the things you may have missed.

FEMA Funds

  • The village has met with representatives from FEMA and the NY State office of emergency management regarding Hurricane Irene and the associated costs regarding the damages in order to obtain reparations in the form of emergency funding.
  • According to Superintendent of Public Works Tom Rini, the village lost 102 trees during the storm and the collected debris amounting to 1,710 cubic yards.
  • Rini emphasized that following the severe blizzard in December 2010, the village did not receive reparations until nine months later.

  • A request from the Veterans of Foreign Wars - Pvt. Adolph Block Post #1305 for use of a general purpose room in the community center on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. during 2012 was granted.
  • The board awarded a bid for a solar panel installation at the central garage to Roland’s Electric in the amount of $277,123.
