New Gas Station May Rise from Ashes in Mineola

New station to be proposed on former Getty site claimed by fire.

A new gas station may be built on the where a Getty station once stood before being claimed in a 2007 fire.

The currently has a proposal before it from a company wishing to reestablish a gas station on the property at 455 Jericho Turnpike between Latham Road and White Road but need to clear up a “few aberrations” in the property lines which village attorney John Spellman said happens “when surveys overlap or where sometimes one party encroaches on the property of another.”

On the south side of 100 x 200 parcel, the village had allegedly intruded northward by 5.3 feet on some of it’s parking spaces and on the eastern side of the property, the property was “pinched” by 1.7 feet.

The company seeking to build the station has proposed a boundary line agreement with the village to restore the property to the correct lines, causing 5.3 feet on the northeast side of the parking lot to be given back. The company is asking for a temporary access agreement to go in and repair, restore and create and line different parking spaces. The net effect would be that the village would lose four parking spaces.

At the June 6 meeting of the village board at the , trustee Lawrence Werther asked building superintendent Dan Whalen to examine the existing surveys for the lot and make the comparison to the company’s submitted surveys.

I'm sorry Marie but there is no information about when the project will actually start. TheRead More developer had requested an extension from the board at a previous meeting and we do not know of a firm start date. When we do receive one, we will most certainly publish it.
