Sleeping In is Not An Option for 311 Center Director

Vincent Malizia is out the door especially early in a blizzard.

Kids and adults alike hear the term "snow day" and figure it's a day to sleep in.

Not Vincent Malizia.

Malizia is the the 311 Call Center Director for the Town of North Hempstead. And when hears "snow day," he sets the alarm early.

How early?

Thursday morning Malizia was up at 3 a.m., picking up call center staff in a Town hybrid SUV from their North Hempstead homes. That way staffers can gear up for the post-storm aftermath, fielding calls on everything from the status on snow plow service, snow on electrical wires, to program cancelations.

Just how many more early mornings Malizia and his crew will face this year – especially given the recent frequency of storms pounding the Northeast – is anyone's guess.

I'm sorry Marie but there is no information about when the project will actually start. TheRead More developer had requested an extension from the board at a previous meeting and we do not know of a firm start date. When we do receive one, we will most certainly publish it.
