WATCH: Green Candidate Jill Stein Arrested at Debate Site

Video by Hofstra's student-run LI Report shows the Green Party candidate calling the event a 'mockery of democracy.'

While President Barack Obama and his challenger Mitt Romney will get the red carpets rolled out for them at Hofstra University Tuesday night, Green Party candidate Jill Stein got a far chillier reception when she and her running mate were arrested near the debate site.

A video posted by LI Report, a Hofstra student news website, shows Stein being blocked by police from entering the debate. On camera, Stein called the debate itself a "mockery of Democracy."

According to the article, Stein and her running mate, Cheri Honkala, were blocked from entering because they did not have credentials.

Security at Hofstra has been even tighter than it was for the 2008 debate, given a sitting president will be on campus.

In the video, officers warn Stein and Honkala that they would be arrested if they did not move. And after they ignored those warnings, police arrested them and led them away.

According to a post on PhillyNOW, the Green Party candidates had planned to storm the event, knowing it could get them arrested.

"Storm the event" is not quite accurate. If they'd intended to storm the event, they would have done so this evening, when 100s of their supporters and other protesters will be marching on the debate.

Democracy? Nah.We get to chose either bad or worse. In 2000 after some tricky manipulations the Republican Supreme Court got to choose for us,.We got stuck with the infamous George Bush who had the debt ceiling rise 7 times in 8 years. He also manipulated us into an illegal and immoral war.

The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD – another “secretive tax-exempt organization”) has hijacked the presidential debate process; third party candidates who could offer a new and possibly better direction, have no exposure and are now completely shut out.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commission_on_Presidential_Debates The ‘debate’ process has been given over to overly coached and polished hucksters telling people what they want to hear and reducing our electoral process to entertainment status with little more value than a reality TV show. Dr. Jill Stein and Ms.Cheri Honkala are federally recognized as qualified presidential and vice presidential candidates of the Green Party who will appear on 85% of ballots on Election Day. Both had every right and indeed an obligation to attend and participate in Tuesday’s presidential debate. Remember that the Lesser of Evils is still EVIL.

It was no "Town Hall debate." The CPD should attend a local League of Women Voters Candidates, which is the closest thing to a town hall debate around these days.

Oops! sShould have read "League of Women Voters Candidates Night." Sorry for the typo.

All the other candidates, including Jill Stein, will have their debate on Tuesday, October 23rd.

Yes, e are a nation of laws and far from a nation of sheep. It isn't as simple as the latter. There are many things, within the law, We the People can do to change what we don't like about government. But in the end, it's a numbers game. And it's all about committment, tenacity, and a willingness to be inconvenienced.

I do not know what you mean by a "senior building." Please be more specific. If you areRead More talking about the Winston-Churchill project and not a senior assisted living facility, we have a small update here: http://mineola.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/flood-mitigation-apartment-projects-moving-forward
