Getting Your Daughter Ready For College - Brunch Event

The transition from high school to college can be very exciting, yet challenging, as a young woman embarks on a journey toward independence. To help prepare mothers and daughters for this right of passage, Winthrop-University Hospital will present a unique program, “Getting Your Daughter Ready for College,” on Sunday, April 29, 2012, from 10:00 AM to 1:00  PM. The event will be held at the Dr. Martin Spatz  Conference Room located in the main Hospital at 259 First Street in Mineola.

Young women and their moms are invited to join speakers Jane Swedler MD, Chief of Adolescent Medicine, and Elana Kastner, MD, Faculty Physician, Department of OB/GYN, as they discuss topics such as “Adapting to College Life,” “Campus Safety,” “Making the Right Choices,” “Nutrition,” “On-Campus Medical Assistance” and “Time Management.” A question and answer period will follow.

The popular event was developed by healthcare professionals at Winthrop more than 10 years ago and is presented each spring. It is designed to help young women prepare to make smart choices that will help protect their well-being.  The program costs $20 per person and includes brunch. Seating is limited and reservations are required by April 21.   For more information or to register,  please call (516) 663-2609.
