Mineola High School Student’s Senior Project Motivates Others

Senior Brandon Lee Heard visits sixth-graders in Elmont to share story of life struggles.

Mineola High School senior Brandon Lee Heard visited sixth-graders in Staney Jacob’s class at the Dutch Broadway School in Elmont on March 22 to discuss his senior project, working with children to motivate them to do their best despite any extenuating circumstances.

Prior to the visit, the sixth-graders read about Lee Heard’s story in TKD Times magazine during an English language arts lesson. His life story of struggles through his childhood and teenage years motivated him to change his situation.

Lee Heard explained how he used taekwondo as a new beginning to change his life. All of the sixth-graders listened to his story of triumph and how he used school and martial arts as his focus, ultimately earning a black belt.
