Mineola Students Observe 2012 International Day of Peace

Middle school students place 100 pinwheels in courtyard for international day of peace.

Students at the Mineola Middle School joined in the worldwide Pinwheels for Peace project to celebrate the International Day of Peace on Friday, September 21.

The courtyard of the school was decorated with pinwheels, representing a visual statement about peace.

The program was started by two teachers at Monarch High School in Florida, who invited students to create and display their pinwheels on the campus during the International Day of Peace. The practice has been adopted internationally.
