Chaminade Lacrosse Pounds Yorktown 15-8

Flyers use four-minute spurt to score six against Huskers.

Four minutes was all it took for Chaminade to score 6 goals in the second quarter against Yorktown Tuesday. That averages out to a goal every 40 seconds for those of you wondering.

And if that weren’t enough, they followed it up with another six in the third for good measure.

“We just played the best lacrosse we’ve played all year,” Flyers head lacrosse coach Jack Moran said walking over , describing Yorktown as a “verv, very good team.”

Chaminade has been facing a lot of those kinds of teams – , to name the last two – and come away with narrow victories in both.

Tuesday was different – a 15-8 blowout with – surprisingly with no breakout star aside from attacker Ryan Lukacovic (2 goals, 2 assists) and midfielder Matthew Graham (3 goals) – those same two repeating their performances from the last pair of games.

“They’ve played within our system, they’re really good players individually but they’ve bought into our system and they share the ball. It makes us harder to defend when they know that we’ll throw the ball to whoever’s open; we don’t care who it is.”

Chaminade fielded nine different defenders, 7 attackers and two of its three goaltenders: starter Daniel Fowler and classmate Joseph Faria, Jr.

“We have a lot of different guys in the game and they produce which as a coach is a good thing,” Moran said. “We shared it a lot today, we had a lot of different guys score which is good for us.”

Good for the Flyers and good to end the latest home stretch as the team will head up to Connecticut to face up-and-coming Greenwhich.

“They have some quality Division I kids and we’re going to have to show up and play hard,” Moran said.

The Saturday game was reportedly moved due to the passing of Jack Lenz, who was the Chaminade athletic director from 1979-87. Greenwich also had a death in their family, making the rescheduling mutual. No specific site was named as of press time.
