Chaminade Tennis Shuts Out Kellenberg 7-0

Flyers singles and doubles teams look good in win over Firebirds.

It’s been over two weeks since the Flyers played their . They didn't look any worse for the wear though as they rolled over the Kellenberg Firebirds 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon at .

“We have the playoffs coming up next week,” coach Jim Quinn said. “So our guys have this week to get their stuff together.”

The Flyers looked pretty good getting easy wins on the doubles side, while victories were harder fought in singles.

First singles player J.T Esposito pulled out a tough first set over Kellenberg’s super sophomore Rich Mitchell,7-6 (7-4.)

Esposito got up 3-0 in the second set before Mitchell battled back to tie the score.

Esposito kept his poise, hitting some big forehands and volleying some nice shots at net to win the set and match, 7-6, 7-4, 6-4.

Second singles player Eric Lobben found himself in a grind-it-out match and needed a third set tiebreaker to beat his opponent, 6-2, 5-7, 13-7.

In third singles, Rich DeGregoris had a relatively easy day winning his match 6-0, 6-4.

The Flyers will play their final match of the season Wednesday at Wang Field against St. Dominic’s before the playoffs begin.
