Mineola Girls Soccer Wins Tough Battle with Sewanhaka 2-1

Lady Mustangs keep perfect conference record intact with goal from Marisa Athan.

The Mineola girls varsity soccer team played one of their toughest games of the season at Sewanhaka High School last Thursday afternoon.

Tied 1-1 for most of the game the Lady Mustangs received a late goal from senior Marisa Athan off an assist from sweeper Catie Cunningham to earn the victory.

“Sewanhaka is the second place team in our conference and was definitely the toughest team we've faced all season,” Mineola head coach Katherine Bennett said. “They guarded our girls tight and their goalie made some great saves on a couple of our shots.”
