Despite Heat, Donors Come Out for Blood Drive

Turnout high for one of Winthrop's four summer blood drives.

Temperatures have been scorching this week, but the rising mercury didn’t deter Mineola residents from contributing to ’s most recent blood drive Tuesday.

The hospital’s community outreach center opened its doors early Tuesday morning for an 11-and-a-half-hour donation drive that saw nurses taking blood, volunteers helping to keep the event organized and running smoothly and a huge group of members from the local community who came out to contribute and donate their own blood.
