Mineola Union Donates Thanksgiving Turkeys to Families in Need

Local 338 and union supermarkets collect turkeys for Elmont and Franklin Square.

On Friday, Nov. 22, Mineola-based Local 338 RWDSU/UFCW delivered over 200 turkeys, donated by Local 338 members and union operated supermarkets, to several food pantries and charitable organizations throughout Long Island, New York City, and Westchester County.

As part of the union’s annual “Turkey Drive,” members of Local 338’s staff delivered turkey and food donations to St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Franklin Square and St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Elmont. The donated turkeys will then be distributed to dozens of families in need within the communities of Elmont and Franklin Square in time for the holiday.

Additionally, members of Local 338’s staff delivered donations to Our Lady of Grace (Howard Beach, Queens), Project Hospitality (Staten Island) and The Sharing Community in Yonkers (Westchester County).
