Sean Hetzel
After graduating from Adelphi University in Garden City with a B.S. in Criminal Justice in 2007 and initially pursuing a career in federal law enforcement, I accepted an entry level position at a media sales firm in New York City and spent a year learning in a professional environment while evaluating my career goals.
I was a recipient of the Edwin Sutherland Award for Excellence in Criminal Justice Research Papers while studying at Adelphi and always had a strong propensity towards writing but never entertained the notion of making a living off of it. During my time at the media sales firm, I was writing fictional short stories in my spare time in the interest of keeping my skills sharp. Finally, I decided that I wanted to make my passion my career and enrolled in New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies for Journalism. Upon earning a Professional Certificate in Journalism in the summer of 2010, I started submitting profile pieces and service articles to written and online publications and was fortunate enough to get published several times on a woman's dating advice website. I continued to hone my craft with the invaluable assistance of the editor at this website and after seeking to broaden my journalistic capabilities, I was lucky enough to have been granted an opportunity to write for Patch.
